1. Cut stems straight across — not at an angle

2. Condition in warm water first
When you first receive calla lilies, place them in warm (not hot) water for the first hour. This helps them hydrate quickly and allows the bloom to open to its full shape. After that initial period, switch to cool, fresh water for ongoing display.

3. Always store and display upright
Calla lily stems are strong but will bend permanently if left horizontal for any length of time. Always transport, store, and display them in a vertical position with at least 5–8cm of water reaching the stem base.

4. Avoid touching the spathe
The waxy surface of a calla lily spathe is prone to fingerprint marks and pressure bruising. Even light contact leaves permanent marks on the smooth surface. Handle by the stem only.

5. Change water every two days and recut stems
Calla lilies tend to develop slime on the stem base, particularly in warm environments. A clean vase, fresh water, and a fresh stem cut every two days will meaningfully extend vase life.

6. Curling edges are normal
The outer edge of the spathe will begin to curl backward as the flower matures. This is a natural part of the bloom's development and does not indicate a problem. True decline shows as softening and collapse at the stem base, not at the spathe edge.

Mini calla lilies tend to last slightly longer than standard varieties.
