Handmade ceramics have a pulse. You can see the hand in every ridge. When we paired up with MMclay, the San Francisco ceramics studio, we wanted flowers that felt just as made-by-hand: loose, seasonal and a little untamed.
A Footed Bowl, Overflowing
The centerpiece is an MMclay footed bowl with a carved, ribbed surface in warm cream. We filled it the way autumn fills a garden: peach and apricot garden roses, blush spray roses and dusty mauve roses, set between burgundy pompon chrysanthemums and spidery orange blooms.
Antique hydrangea in faded green and blue anchors the base. Golden beech branches reach up and out, and one long stem trails all the way to the table. Feathery rust plumes, clusters of fresh dates and whole pomegranates finish the scene.

Set the Table
Around the bowl, MMclay cups and plates in pale glaze keep the palette calm. A linen cloth, brass flatware and a few scattered dates and pomegranates let the arrangement spill naturally onto the table, as if it grew there.

How to Build an Autumn Centerpiece
Start with a low, wide vessel. A footed bowl lifts the flowers just enough for conversation to flow over them.
Go asymmetric. Let one side reach and trail. Perfect symmetry feels formal; autumn should feel generous.
Mix flowers with fruit. Pomegranates and dates add color and weight, and they belong to the season as much as the roses do.
Use branches for height. Golden beech carries the eye up without crowding the table.
Bring This Home
We design autumn centerpieces and tablescapes for dinners, holidays and events across San Francisco and the Bay Area. Browse our fall flowers, see our event florals, or get in touch about a table of your own.
