Here's a secret from behind the counter: choosing the flowers is the easy part. It's the little blank card that stops people cold. The three rules of flower cards
1. Short beats long. A card is a note, not a letter — one or two sentences land harder than a paragraph.

Skip inside jokes the delivery recipient might read aloud to coworkers, anything you wouldn't want a doorman to see, and — for sympathy — avoid "they're in a better place" or explanations of the loss. When in doubt, shorter and warmer wins.
